Who am I? I am a licensed New York City elementary school teacher. I hold a graduate degree in reading from Bank Street College. I have been teaching in the classroom and tutoring for 15+ years. I have taught grades K-3rd. I currently teach kindergarten in a NYC public school. Outside of teaching, I’m the mama to an 8 and 10 year old. I live in Brooklyn. Spending time with my awesome family and going on long walks is my jam.

How does this work? You get in touch with me and we discuss your child’s needs. Then I do a free assessment with your child to get to know them as a learner and as a person. If it’s a good fit, we will schedule a time for me to work with your child weekly.

What will you do with my child? Lessons will be based on your child’s specific needs. I will spend time preparing materials prior to our sessions. If needed, I will utilize programs such as Orton-Gillingham, PAF, Explode the Code as well as create original lessons and games. Depending on your child’s needs we may practice sounds, do dictations, read books, work on comprehension through listening, word play and spelling.

How long are the sessions? The session length will depend on your child’s age and needs. For Kindergarten children, usually, 30 minutes. Older students can work for longer. Some students may need consistency and could use short sessions more frequently.

Can you be our pod teacher? I can not be a pod teacher because I will be in the classroom during the day. But, I know that this school year is going to be stressful for parents and we all just want to make sure our kids are getting what they need. I am here to meet with your child on a regular basis and support your child in areas that they may need more one on one attention with.

Will you come to our house? At this time, to minimize exposure for myself, my family and your family, I am holding tutoring sessions online. Hopefully this will change soon!
